Who Pays

A CAFO depends on food and water for the animals they raise from various sources.  They will franchise the farmer with strict requirements for feeding vs. growth ratio for the over 6000 CAFO’s that support the large meat producers..  Meaning make them grow fast with the least amount of food (4-9 weeks).  Oh, but the waste created is the responsibility of the franchisee.   So the Perdue and Tyson leave the shit to the franchisee, local, state and federal communities, the residents near and downstream to feel the effect.

According to certain studies, the U.S. Taxpayer support the CAFO’s with over $7 billion worth of subsidies to clean up after them, and $4 billion more cleaning up the animal waste and emissions damages to our land, water and air.  What this is really, is paying the CAFO and the Producer to pollute and continue to provide questionably unhealthily and poorly raised food source that can kill the human being.  Oh, not quickly (in most cases), but look into the cancer expectancy for 2017.  Per the top 5 of the 55 cancer areas below, do you think it has anything to do with what goes in our mouth?

ESTIMATED NEW CASES ESTIMATED DEATHS
Body Area BOTH SEXES MALE FEMALE BOTH SEXES MALE FEMALE
Digestive system 310,440 175,650 134,790 157,700 92,350 65,350
Genital system 279,800 172,330 107,470 59,100 27,500 31,600
Breast 255,180 2,470 252,710 41,070 460 40,610
Respiratory system 243,170 133,050 110,120 160,420 88,100 72,320
Lung & bronchus 222,500 116,990 105,510 155,870 84,590 71,280

So we expect the Federal Government to subsidize (and the state in some cases).  From roads, road repairs or reinforcements for large vehicles and of course the agricultural farmers for economic failures either by design, lack of resources or historical reliance on the fed support, mostly to support the Animal Agriculture.  If the states allow these to exist and want to have the benefit of the employment they provide and the tax revenue, you would think they would also be economically concerned with their wellbeing of their constituent’s health as well.  Not to just to subsidize the crops to keep the price down for the large and medium sized CAFO, with little to no subsidies on grass fed livestock.

We continue to struggle in many ways.  From the daily decisions on finances, raising children, why our kids seem to eat so much as they grow up… anyway.  I cannot see why our country continues to struggle and be distracted by the POTUS and the media, safe spaces, political correctness, Kardashians… when the very cities and states we live in allow us to be delivered the very sustenance that should keep us well and alive, but kills us slowly, and degrades our mental and physical abilities.

Maybe it’s me, but we should be outraged to our local governance enough for them to fear for their future in the leadership of the community.  Just a few towns, villages, and small cities would be enough to make a difference.

Otherwise, We Pay.  Still.
