Where do we go from here?

Up until this published blog, I have heard from a few who have given feedback, “is a lot of information to take in” and it may be hard to comprehend”.  I do understand.  Although many did not know or hardly considered this an issue.  Some did and were enlightened and thankful that I have started to put this out there.  Thanks to those of you for your support.

Here is what we know, our planet is not growing in size.  The land in which we are able to grow the food we eat and feed to the animals we eat will not be increasing in size.  Yes, there are alternatives like fish farms, organic planting facilities, and I am sure there are several others.  Out population is growing and people are living longer (at least for now).

I recently had a good conversation with a colleague about our population growth and our ability to sustain a sufficient food source for all.  He said (not quoting) that this had been a topic about 40 years ago and there was doom ahead, and we found new ways, including technologies, that would get us past these potential choke points (new farming techniques, equipment, GMO’s…).  Maybe this will work today as well.

My concerns, are as I have stated and supported in my previous posting.  We are slowly, if at all reacting to the deficiencies we have, and the damages we have caused and continue to.  Many of our water sources are diminishing, some are not being replenished. Others are being contaminated by the animals we raise for consumption, and of course the contaminants our waste-water treatment plants were not designed to treat (prescription drugs and other man-made chemicals).

Today we will need to again utilize our collective concern, intelligence and passion about our lives and our future to overcome the negative effects of our growing pains that have not been addressing the long term illness of our societies.  It is difficult as an individual and even collectively to do and speak out on these subjects, because we don’t want to be pointed out as part of the problem.  Get over it!  That is not what it’s about.  It’s not about you (only).  It’s about our loved ones and generations to come.  Wow!  Wouldn’t it be great to be part of a solution, that when you are dead and gone, you can really know you left something behind that can be continued and hopefully know is good for those whom you care?

Thanks again for listening.  Take care…
